Salsa! Guys, maybe you’ve heard of Volcanic Peppers and seen it on the shelves at a grocery store like Hy-Vee. For years, John from Golden Bowl had been telling me that I needed to stop by the shop because they have great hot sauce. Volcanic Peppers is located at 601 Fort Crook Rd N, Bellevue, NE 68005, down the road from Golden Bowl. John keeps the restaurant stocked with one of the sauces from Volcanic Peppers.
I made it out to Volcanic Peppers last year after buying a couple bottles online. Our house is always stocked with hot sauce, and I was happy to add to the selection. I ordered the Smoked Cayenne and the Twisted Pickle. The cayenne was a safe play as I didn’t know what to order and the pickle was to have something different. I have used each of the sauces on a variety of food items. I like!
That brings us to the salsa. As I was shopping at Hy-Vee, I saw the assortment of sauces in stock. There was Mild, Medium and Hot. I thought my youngest daughter might try some, so I went with the mild option. After I got it home, we cracked it open to give it a try. It was good and fresh! It didn’t take us long to finish off the 16oz tub. I think it was just a few days.
I made a post about the salsa and people chimed in saying that I should have chosen one of the hotter options. I explained the why I didn’t order a higher heat level. On one of my next trips, I did grab one of the medium salsas from the shelf. When I got this one home and tried it, I was happy that I didn’t go with the hot. The medium packs quite a punch and is enough for us. I don’t know how people consume the hot. Lol. I’ll leave that to you guys, and we’ll stick with the medium. Thank you very much!
The salsa is a perfect blend, and you can see that freshness by looking at as soon as you pop the top off. I could tell by the smell that there was garlic and jalapeno, but when checking the ingredients, I was surprised to see peach listed. I haven’t made a lot of salsas at home personally, so I don’t have a lot of experience here. I don’t know how many different options there are, but they clearly know what they’re doing.
The next time you’re at the store, pick up a container if you’re in the mood to try something new and local!
I give Volcanic Peppers 4 Fatties. Have you been? If so, what do you think? Please leave your comment.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my thoughts on food. You are amazing!
