Kitchen Table, thank you for a great lunch with my wife! My birthday was at the end of September and I took some days off from work to make it a long weekend and while I was scrolling through Twitter I this epic biscuit sandwich caught my eye. It was a HUMONGOUS stacked tower of breakfasty goodness! The power of Social Media really made its presence felt as I was grabbed up in a whirlwind of excitement as hunger took over my body. I showed my wife and we decided to head downtown to give it a try.
Located at 1415 Farnam Street, it is only about a 20 minute drive from our home in Papillion. We got there and as soon as you walk in you could feel a really relaxed vibe. You order up at the counter and select a seat after your order is placed. Looking at the menu we saw a snack mix that looked interesting because it was made up of bacon, popcorn, and candied nuts. Did I mention that it had bacon? Oh yeah, that’s why It was unique. It was probably about this time that I knew that I was going to be a fan because…who does that? It was the thick cut bacon too; they weren’t skimping.
Along with the snack mix that included bacon, I ordered that breakfast sandwich that was posted on Twitter. It was “BIG FLUFFY #BISCUIT SANDWICH!! Omelette Style Egg/Cheddar…House Chicken Bacon Sausage” and they added hot sauce and honey to bring the sandwich the rest of the way home. Do you see why I started to be a fan? My wife ordered an omelette sandwich that also looked pretty tasty, but I was so in awe of my sandwich that I can’t really talk about what she had. Haha. Each sandwich came with a small cup of fresh fruit that included slices of watermelon and white peach with fresh basil. The flavor combination with the basil was really refreshing. Each bite just felt good.
Now, back to my BIG FLUFFY BISCUIT Sandwich. A.K.A. The Star of the Show! I want to again mention the size of this biscuit sandwich because it was huge. I have a big mouth and can usually tackle most meals with no problem, but this was not your typical biscuit sandwich. I couldn’t fit the sandwich into my mouth even when I tried to squish it down with my fingers. The size was not the only big thing about this sandwich either. The taste has to be acknowledged. I have never experienced a place that combines bacon, chicken, and sausage all in one glorious patty and it was just that; Glorious! The biscuit was fluffy, the egg was fluffy, the patty was incredible and the mixture of hot sauce and honey just activated a big grin on my face. Not as big as the sandwich, but it was a big grin. Needless to say, I didn’t finish my sandwich and was happy to have leftovers.
One of the coolest parts of our visit was sitting at the bar seats directly in front of the kitchen area where all the magic was happening. We got to see our meals freshly made right in front of our eyes. When I say freshly made, I mean freshly made. Fresh is a big part of this restaurant as we found out from our chefs. They get a lot of their food from partnerships with local growers and that is something that I can definitely get behind as I enjoy supporting local. That may come as a big surprise to you as you read my reviews. We enjoyed being able to hear the backgrounds behind dishes and how they are able to serve new items depending on what is being grown. They put as much as possible to use and leave little to waste. My kind of place.
I’d say that the quality of the food at Kitchen Table is pretty high, but the prices are not for what you are receiving. You can tell that they care about the food that they are serving and the experience that they are providing. I can for sure say that I would like to make it back to Kitchen Table at some point in the future, but for now these Social Media posts will have to do.
I give Kitchen Table 5 Fatties! Have you been? If so, what do you think?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my thoughts on food. You are amazing!
